Roya Seyfaddin kizi Tagiyeva.

Having graduated from Baku State University in 1966, she defended her thesis on "Azerbaijani Narrative Carpets", achieving the degree of Doctor of Arts in1982. She is the author of two books – "Azerbaijani Narrative Carpets" and "Nizami's Plots in Carpet-art" – as well as more than 30 scholarly articles on carpets and ornamental-applied arts. Since 1967 she has worked at the Azerbaijan State Museum of Carpets and Handicrafts in Baku. She is cur rently the museum Director.

The author is also the chairperson of the Azerbaijan National Committee of ICOM (International Council of Museums) and a member of the Artist's Society of Azerbaijan.
